4 tips to execute on your big goals
Four tips to improve execution
Executing on your big high-impact goals may be your #1 or #2 job.
Once you’ve established your high-impact goal for your department, the question becomes: Are we moving toward completion? Execution of our goals requires focus and prioritization and without that, big goals often never get done.
In this video we share how to bring your goal into focus so it's actionable. To do that we recommend you turn your big goal and your smaller activities into a score-board, much like a basketball scoreboard, that tells us if we are winning or losing.
- Your big goal should be visible, just like a scoreboard. (maybe you display your goal on a posterboard in the breakroom or at your office door)
- Your score-board should show the completion date.
- Your score-board should show all of your milestones or repeatable activities.
- Your scoreboard should also track the results of your repeatable activities or milestones.
With so many priorities in local government, we must have a way to focus on a few big goals, otherwise we get smothered in lots of small projects and requirements that keep us from doing those big things
