How to Stay Focused on Your Big Goals
How to stay focused on your big goals
Last week we talked about creating a scoreboard to help track the progress of your department, City or County’s high-impact goal. But a scoreboard by itself is of little value.
In today’s video is about how to communicate your scorecard to your team so they’re aligned to it and so that you keep the focus on progress.
Once your scoreboard is completed and in a visible place, it’s meant to be talked about among your team.
- We recommend you meet weekly or bi-weekly to discuss your scoreboard
- Be sure to recognize good effort and results the team completed
- As a team, discuss any milestones or repeatable activities that are unmet or behind
- Determine what you can do to get caught up
This sounds simplistic but it’s actually very powerful. This process keeps focus on the big goal, it keeps the team engaged and it focuses on progress or lack thereof.
This simple process will help keep you focused on that ONE big goal – without it, all your projects and smaller goals will take your eye off this one transformational goal.
