Keys to Successful Employee Feedback

Six Keys to Effective Feedback

In today’s video we share about the topic of feedback - something effective leaders do on a regular basis.

The good news is that most people want to know if they are failing or succeeding, so they can change and be more effective.  But it's up to leaders to take the initiative and provide the feedback.

Here are best practices for good feedback:

  1. Feedback should be specific and include details and examples
  2. Feedback should be timely and given on a regular basis (i.e. quarterly)
  3. Feedback should be written and / or verbal (ideally written)
  4. Feedback should be done in private (of course, positive feedback can be in public)
  5. Feedback should focus on a few areas to keep it simple
  6. Feedback should include how the person's work impacts the team  – good or bad

The best leaders ask their team members to provide feedback to them - so you grow as a leader.  Also, in this video we share a way to provide feedback called "more of, less of, same as".
