How your team responds to conflict

How your team members react in conflict

In today’s video we talk about conflict and how different personalities on your team often respond in conflict.

As a leader, it's your role to be aware of these potential responses and address those that are improper.

Each personality type (we use DISC) responds differently to conflict such as:

D-Types / Drivers – In conflict may often overpower, be pushy and roll people over; they may shut others down.  However, they do push the team to address problems head-on, which is quite valuable!

I-Types / The Influencer:  In conflict, I-types can often get dramatic and maybe even gossip, dwell on the past or say "everything's ok".   On the positive side, they do express passion and emotions well.

S-Types / Steady: They can sometimes gloss over conflict (like an I-type), not speak up for their own needs and avoid conflict.  On the positive side they often pause to listen and are empathetic during conflict.

C-Type / Conscientious or Compliant: C-types love numbers so they can easily overpower others with logic and facts; to them it's usually all  black and white.  On the positive side they like to keep tense situations objective and help the team stick to the core issues.
